February is already here

I finished my scrappy reader pillow in January and couldn’t be happier with it!  It was so (sew) easy!

So the first month of 2015 I actually kept up with my personal goals.  Well, for the most part.  But I have also made a goal to be kinder to myself, so even though I “made something” this month (the pillow) but didn’t “bake something” because I had the stomach flu and then a head cold, I forgave myself.

In January I met my daily writing goals and worked past a leg injury to run eleven miles yesterday.  In one session.  Only stopping once to refuel for a few minutes.  I feel this needs to be repeated–I RAN 11 FREAKING MILES.  More than I ever thought I could run in my entire life.  My half marathon is in two weeks and I think I’m actually ready!  Of course I’m sore today, but that’s a small price to pay for feeling so good about myself.

Today was my 34th birthday and we just got breakfast, hung out at home, went for a walk, and did laundry.  Anything to avoid the Super Bowl crowds just a few miles from our house.  Even though it was a quiet day, it felt like a new beginning.

Here’s to a new year.

  1. Happy Birthday! 34 is young! And 11 miles IS freakin’ awesome! I am no runner, will never be. But at 54 am feeling stronger and more fit than I’ve ever been, except for a couple of unreal years from 29-31. Not gonna let that bully old age beat me, if I can help it…
